Printed Pattern Quilt

This is a crib size quilt that my mom had in her cupboard in her sewing room from long ago. when I was in college she gave it to me to quilt. It took some time as I quilted every single line on the quilt but it was a lot of fun. Printed quilts are easy because there are no seams to quilt through. If I need to make a quick gift I will find a panel like this one as I can usually have it done it a few days at most.

Tractor Quilt

I think that every little boy needs a tractor blanket. My boys will sit and look at this or drag it around or use it for a road for their rolling tractors. My mom had this left over from some other quilts she made and even though it is printed off grain slightly I think that it turned out well. I even made a smaller crib size one so both boys would have one but that is put away right now so I'll add pics later.
An individual square, I decided to quilt around the tractors and the emblems and then tie the rest. The kids like to play with the ties.

Trip around the world

I love the color purple. My mom is one of the queens of Trip around the world quilts. She started making them a few years after her mom started making them. My mom is very picky about which fabrics go into each of her quilts. In a trip around the world quilt there is generally 9 fabrics to create the design. My mom usually ends up with enough fabrics to make 2 quilts as she changes her mind all the time and is continually looking for different fabrics that 'match' better. as you can see all of the extra effort really pays off and her quilts look amazing.
She knows that I love to quilt so she made this top for me then gave it to me to quilt.

I like to quilt designs into quilts when they work so in all the fabric in the quilt that is this color I quilted in these little squares. I went to a local store called 'Home Fabrics' and found the fabric for the back, it is 90" wide so I didn't have to buy as much and it goes really well with the colors that my mom chose for the front.

Pinwheel Mosaic

My friend Ashley is having her first baby, a girl, and I found these fabrics that looked cute together and decided to make a blanket to fit a crib for her.
Quilts are made up of blocks that are pieced together and then arranged so that you come up with a unique and usually a repeating pattern. This pattern is called pinwheel mosaic. I ended up making two of them but the other one still needs to be quilted.
This is one of the blocks:
And this is the second block:This pictures shows the binding and a little bit of the back.

London Roads

Well here is the first picture that I could find on my computer. I made this quilt for my niece who was born April 1, 2007 . I had borrowed a quilt book from my mom earlier that year and at the same time my mom donated a bunch of her scraps to my budding piece quilt making skills:) So before she was born I decided to try to make a quilt. and this is the result. It was both fun and frustrating. I learned many things from this tiny quilt and was very happy that I had started this endeavor with a crib quilt and not a king size quilt. I like the actual quilting part the most but piecing quilts together isn't all bad.
